I'm not sure of any FAA regulations, I could agree with them though. I do know that they had to shut them down in Vegas for that reason, And I know they are very restricted here in New York, but for that matter everything in New York is restricted. I never realized though that those small keychain ones were powerful enough to make it to the moon. That in itself is really good when you think of it. A beam of light shining 230,000 miles. Did you know...this one blows me away, they really don't know the exact distance to the moon? They supposedly have reflector arrays from previous Apollo & russian ( When did they go to the moon? ) so they can shoot a lasar and bounce it back to calculate the distance exactly. I found that this morning while looking up the paint the moon thing. Google lunar ranging once, it should pop up.
